Professor Hang-Sik Shin

 

Hang-Sik Shin is a Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, KAIST, Daejeon Korea. He graduated from Seoul National University in 1971 with a BE degree in Civil Engineering. He received his Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering at Penn State University in1982. Since 1984, he has worked as a Professor at KAIST. He was a visiting Professor at Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and Hokkaido University, Japan. He was the President of Korea Society of Environmental Engineers from 2002 to 2004 and now an Associate Editor of the journal Water Research.

He was awarded with The Order of National Service Merit, Magnolia from Korean Government for his contribution to the water environment. His research areas include anaerobic digestion, biological nutrient removal, water reuse and MBR. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed journal papers.
