Professor Kazuo Yamamoto

 

 

 

 

 

Professor Yamamoto received his BE, ME and DE (PhD) from The University of Tokyo (UT) in 1977, 1979 and 1983 respectively. He started his academic carrier at the Department of Urban Engineering, UT since 1981 and he was promoted to a Professor at UT in 1995. He is currently a Professor (having served as the Director from 2003 to 2007), Environmental Science Center, UT, a visiting Professor, The Institute of Statistical Mathematics, Japan, the President, Japan Society of Material Cycles and Waste Management, and the Chief Director, Japan Association of Container and Packaging Recycling. He had been seconded to Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand from 1987 to 1989 by Japanese Government. His major field is Environmental Engineering, specializing in R&D of advanced treatment/reclamation technologies, such as membrane technology, hydrothermal water technology and so on, for decentralized water and waste management system in urban area. He is also conducting field works in developing countries, such as R&D for water reuse technology in tropical regions in Thailand (JST-JICA project). Sidney Loeb Award 2008 was awarded from European Desalination Society for his invention of submerged membrane bioreactor concept. Membrane Technology Award was presented by the specialist group on membrane technology, International Water Association (IWA) in September 2009.
